Shimmering like fine jewels, these glass tiles actually started out life as utilitarian bottles and containers.
Depending on the color, 10 to 100 percent of the materials in Crossville's new Eco Glass tiles is recycled. The tiles themselves, available in 15 colors, are manufactured in an restored 1880s factory that once rolled out stained glass for Louis Comfort Tiffany and Peltier Glass Marbles.
The luminiscent tiles come in shades of blue, green, amber, red, black and white and in clear, iridescent and frosted matte finishes. Add to that the four tile sizes, plus listellos, and your design is limited only by your imagination.
The artisan-created tiles can be used on walls, countertops and floors. Color designer Barbara Schirmeister says the texture on the front and back of the cast-glass reflects and refracts light.
